Having given up the material wealth of his family to follow Jesus, Judas is now excited to return to Jerusalem and rejoice in the glory of Jesus taking his place as the King of the Jews. When Jesus makes no move to take power, Judas begins to have doubts. Judas becomes torn between two worlds; follow the words of Jesus and promote a peaceful existence with the Romans or follow his fiancé who demands violence and bloodshed to overthrow the Romans. Judas becomes angered at Jesus when he plans a feast rather than battle. When Judas leads Pontius Pilate in an act of betrayal he feels this should prompt Jesus to act. But Jesus’ attitude does not change and now faces crucifixion for his beliefs.
